This summer (2026) delivered some serious heatwave drama, but I was lucky enough to photograph a gorgeous wedding during that perfect brief break in the weather. The light was an absolute dream — soft, flattering, and full of that golden summer glow every wedding photographer hopes for.
Chelsea Old Town Hall remains one of my all-time favourite London wedding venues, and this day reminded me exactly why. From the moment the couple stepped out as newlyweds, everything aligned beautifully.

Why Chelsea Old Town Hall is a Photographer’s Dream
The historic architecture provides stunning backdrops both inside and out, but the real magic happens right at the entrance. Those abundant, colourful flowers spilling around the doorway create the most romantic frame for the couple’s first moments as husband and wife. The combination of classic London architecture with soft floral details gives every exit shot a fairytale feel without trying too hard.
On this particular day, the gentle light filtering through the break in the heatwave made the colours pop and created beautiful, natural highlights on the bride’s dress and the couple’s happy expressions. No harsh shadows, no squinting — just pure, joyful moments I could capture effortlessly.

Favourite Moments from the Day
The energy was relaxed and full of love. After the ceremony, we took full advantage of the venue’s beautiful exterior. The floral archway at the entrance became the hero of many of my favourite portraits. I love how the flowers complemented the couple’s colour palette and added that extra layer of romance to their portraits.
The soft, diffused daylight during that break between heatwaves was perfect for both candid shots and more formal portraits. It wrapped everything in a warm, flattering glow that made skin tones look radiant and brought out the delicate details in the bride’s bouquet and dress.
Working with Natural Light as a London Wedding Photographer
Days like this are why I’m passionate about documentary-style wedding photography. When the light cooperates, you can focus entirely on the emotions and connections rather than fighting harsh sunlight or chasing shade. Chelsea Old Town Hall’s location and architecture give you so many options — from elegant formal shots to intimate, laughter-filled candids.

Would you love wedding photos that feel this natural and joyful?
If you’re planning your wedding at Chelsea Old Town Hall or anywhere in London and want a photographer who knows how to make the most of beautiful venues and perfect summer light, I’d love to hear from you.
