Why I Love London Registry Office Weddings

There’s something special about the pace of a London registry office wedding.

Guests gathering outside, taxis arriving, a few nervous minutes before the ceremony, confetti on the steps and then everyone heading off into the city to celebrate.

Smaller weddings can be incredibly relaxed too. With fewer formalities and more time to enjoy the people around you, they create exactly the kind of genuine moments I love to photograph.

I’ll document the ceremony naturally, capture all the reactions and little moments happening around you, and give you some gentle direction for couple and group photographs when it’s useful.

You won’t spend your wedding day constantly being told where to stand or what to do.

Old Marylebone Town Hall

Old Marylebone Town Hall is beautiful both inside and out, and I particularly love photographing the quieter moments inside the building. From arrivals and ceremonies to the corridors and staircases, there are plenty of opportunities for natural photographs without taking you away from your guests for long.

Hackney Town Hall

Hackney Town Hall has a completely different feel, with its striking Art Deco architecture and impressive entrance. It works beautifully for intimate London weddings, and nearby Victoria Park gives us the option of adding some relaxed outdoor portraits after the ceremony.

Wandsworth Town Hall

Wandsworth Town Hall works particularly well for smaller, intimate weddings where the focus is simply on getting married and enjoying the people around you. Those uncomplicated celebrations often produce some of the most genuine and meaningful photographs.

Kensington Town Hall

Kensington Town Hall is a lovely choice for a relaxed civil ceremony in west London. I enjoy photographing the candid moments around the ceremony here, the arrivals, nervous smiles, reactions and little exchanges between couples that make each wedding feel personal.

Relaxed, Documentary Wedding Photography

I believe the best wedding photographs happen when you’re enjoying your day rather than thinking about the camera.

For most of the ceremony and celebration, I’ll quietly photograph what’s happening around me — the nerves, laughter, reactions, hugs and all those little moments that are easy to miss while you’re living them.

I’m not interested in turning your registry office wedding into a long photoshoot. When it comes to couple portraits or family photographs, I’ll give you some simple direction when it’s useful, but otherwise I want everything to feel natural and relaxed.

My aim is to create photographs that don’t just show what your wedding looked like, but bring back how it actually felt.

Chelsea Old Town Hall

Chelsea Old Town Hall is one of my favourite London venues to photograph. I love the energy outside the building, the elegant ceremony rooms and those brilliant moments when couples emerge onto the steps to be greeted by family, friends and confetti.

Short Wedding Photography Coverage

Not every wedding needs a full day of photography.

Many London registry office weddings only need a few hours of coverage — enough time for arrivals, the ceremony, group photographs and some relaxed portraits afterwards.

Whether you need me for a short ceremony or a little longer to follow the celebrations afterwards, I’m happy to tailor the coverage around your plans rather than trying to fit your wedding into a standard package.

If you’re not sure how much time you’ll need, just tell me what you’re planning and I’ll happily help you work it out.

Planning Your Wedding at Short Notice?

Sometimes plans come together quickly.

Maybe you’ve only recently decided to have a photographer, your plans have changed, or another photographer has unexpectedly become unavailable.

I’ve photographed London weddings booked at very short notice, including stepping in on the morning of a ceremony after another photographer became ill.

If I’m available, I’ll always do my best to help.
