As a London wedding photographer, much of the job involves chasing beautiful light and creating carefully composed portraits. But sometimes, the most magical images happen completely by chance. Serendipity steps in, and all you have to do is be ready with your camera.
After Selma and Sezer’s lovely civil ceremony at Enfield Register Office, we made our way to the stunning Forty Hall Estate gardens for their wedding photoshoot. The historic grounds, with their manicured lawns, elegant architecture, and leafy pathways, provide one of the most beautiful backdrops for wedding photography in North London.
The light that afternoon was soft and flattering, perfect for some relaxed posed portraits of the happy couple. As we moved through the gardens, Selma and Sezer walked hand in hand toward another part of the park. I followed quietly behind, capturing candid moments as they naturally unfolded.
Then it happened, a completely un-staged, serendipitous moment. As they passed through a leafy alcove, the late September sun broke through in the most perfect way. Golden light poured onto the scene, catching Selma’s white dress beautifully and bathing the couple in a warm, dreamy glow.
What makes this photograph so special is that it wasn’t planned or posed. The couple didn’t stop or adjust, it was simply a fleeting, magical moment that came together naturally. These are the images I live for as a documentary wedding photographer: authentic, heartfelt, and full of real emotion.
The Beauty of Candid Wedding Photography at Forty Hall Estate
Shooting at venues like Enfield Register Office and the beautiful Forty Hall Estate allows for the perfect mix of classic portraits and spontaneous, genuine moments. The estate’s historic setting and expansive gardens give couples plenty of space to relax and be themselves, which often leads to the most treasured photographs of the day.
For many couples, it’s these unposed, natural images, rather than the formal posed shots, that they end up cherishing the most. They capture the true feeling of the day and become lasting memories they can look back on for years to come.
